Project Overview

Driving Question:

How can we use our knowledge and skills to impact people in need around the world?

SUMMARY:

Students will create lanterns to sell/auction off and use the money to support a project from Lantern Projects. Students will select a project from Lantern Project to support. Students will research the country of the people in their chosen project and be able to present to potential buyers about the country and project that the lantern sales will support.

Minor Products:

  1. One paragraph description of the project they would like to support.

  2. Summary of information learned from each source

  3. Business plan for lantern kits

    • How much do materials cost? How does that affect sale price?

    • Where and how to sell them?

    • Reach out to local businesses, festivals, etc. to partner

    • Build a website for online sales

Major Products:

  1. Lantern making kits

    • Directions for how to assemble lantern 

    • Materials for lantern

    • Card describing the project supported by that lantern kit sale

  2. Informational essay about the country and project supported

  3. Country Presentation
